The UBU projects at LYS are targeted at young people living in disadvantaged areas, who are socially isolated and in need of opportunities to socialise with their peers through recreational and developmental activities. Additional, Key issues affecting this target group are poor educational attainment, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour, lack of appropriate youth amenities, and childhood trauma. Other target groups include young travelers, and those Young people from Migrant and LGBTI communities.

Target Group

Young people described in the National Youth Strategy, aged between 10 and 24 years old who are experiencing marginalisation or are disadvantaged or vulnerable are the primary target group for youth services funded by UBU Your Place Your Space scheme

Referral

Referrals from local area in vicinity of the project and may /Parents/ local schools and other community groups. Contact LYS for further information. The projects are as follows Kings Island UBU in Nicholas st Limerick, City/ Suburbs based Northside Youth Space, East Limerick UBU based ACM Castleconnell, with outreach to Cappamore and Caherconlish, Rathkeale -Askeaton UBU based in Rathkeale Youth Space with Outreach to Askeaton , Garryowen Youth Together based in John St

Limerick Youth Service was founded in 1973 and is a provider of youthwork, education , training and employability programmes to young people aged 10 to 25 in Limerick City and County. We are a registered charity and a member of of Youthwork Ireland . LYS is governed by a Voluntary Board which is responsible for overall governance of the organisation.
