Focus Ireland’s Youth Housing Service was developed in recognition of the need to provide young people leaving state care or who are at risk of homelessness with support to ensure they acquire the skills necessary to live independently and to avoid the risk of becoming homeless. The service provides support and independent accommodation with secure tenancies to young people. The aim of the project is to work in partnership with young people to assist them to make the transition to an independent and self-managed lifestyle.
The project seeks:
To develop safe, affordable and supported housing to assist young people in their transition to healthy independence.
To support young people in personal development, attainment of independent living skills, social integration by providing holistic and integrated support that reflects their changing needs.
To support and facilitate young people in making a positive move-on from supported temporary accommodation to appropriate sustainable accommodation.
Target Group
Outreach support is provided to young people between 16 – 23 years. Housing is provided to young people over the age of 18.
Referral
Referrals can only be received through the Tusla Aftercare team and Homeless Action Team.
