CAMHS provides a specialist mental health service to those aged up to 18 years old who have moderate to severe mental health disorders, that require the input of a specialist multi-disciplinary mental health team (Psychiatrists, Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers, Social Care Workers, Occupational Therapists & Speech & Language Therapists), including: Moderate to severe depression; Mood disorders; Psychosis; Anxiety disorders; Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD); Moderate/severe eating disorders; Suicidal behaviours; Suicidal ideation where intent is present. The Service is mainly an out-patient service provided by multi-disciplinary teams in community-based locations across the Mid West.
Target Group
Young people people under 18 with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
Referral
Referrals to CAMHS are accepted from GPs, Consultant Liaison/General Adult Psychiatrists, Paediatricians and Seniors/Team Leader level community based clinicians including NEPS Psychologists, Tusla staff, Jigsaw and Disability Assessment Officers. All referrers must work in collaboration with the child’s GP to ensure continuity of care, which means the referrer must contact the GP.
