the mediator helps people to:

  • Work out a parenting plan
  • Develop a co parenting relationship
  • Communicate with each other as parents and how to communicate with the children
  • Figure out how to tell the children that they are separating
  • Deal with new partners
  • Deal with education, health issues, passports and travel etc
  • Provide 2 homes for the children
  • Work out a budget that meets the financial needs of the children and the parents

Target Group

People who have decided the only way forward is to separate and need to figure out a practical plan for the future. People who have a child(ren) together and who have never lived together and need to figure out parenting and/or financial support. Children engage as part of the mediation process if parents wish them to participate and the children also wish to engage with us directly

Referral

Parties need to contact us directly to confirm interest in knowing more or engaging in mediation as it’s a voluntary process.

The Service helps couples who have decided to separate or who have already separated or parents who don’t live together to negotiate their own terms of agreement taking into account the needs and interests of all involved.
